From the survey DWG to measured rooms and 3D for the client

For architects, surveyors and interior designers who start from a CAD floor plan and must explain the space to someone who cannot read it: walls and rooms in 3D in the browser, floor areas and walls calculated from the model, an image to send to the client.

ShotPlan is in development for pilot projects. Available functions and limits are verified on the agreed use case.

The problem

The floor plan is clear to you, not to the client

Reading a plan requires technical skills. Without a 3D view decisions slow down, and floor areas end up copied by hand into separate documents. ShotPlan keeps the view and the measurements together on the same model.

Survey and floor area check

Open the DWG, calibrate the scale if needed, trace the walls with snapping to the lines and generate the rooms: floor area and perimeter of each room are calculated from the model.

A 3D view to show

Switch to the 3D view, rotate the space and download a PNG image for the client meeting, without opening a modelling program.

Measured walls and openings

Gross and net wall surface for each room, with openings subtracted: the base for finishes, painting and cladding, exported as JSON.

How the work goes

One job, from start to delivery

  1. 01

    Upload the DWG

The survey enters the viewer with its layers; the scale is read from the file or set with a known measurement.

  2. 02

    Trace walls and openings

Walls on the CAD lines with thickness and height; doors and windows on the wall.

  3. 03

    Generate rooms and measure

Rooms from the closed walls, with name and category; floor areas, perimeters and walls calculated.

    Available
  4. 04

    Deliver

3D image for the client, JSON of the quantities for the take-off, project saved for the next revision.

The pilot project

We start from a concrete case

  1. 01

    We define the problem

Which decision should ShotPlan help to make and who will use the result?

  2. 02

    We agree on the test

We establish the floor plan, the quantities to evaluate, the price list and the success criteria.

  3. 03

    We evaluate the pilot

Scope, conditions and connections with your systems are agreed after the technical check.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to redraw the whole DWG?

No. The DWG stays as the visual base. You trace only the walls you need following the drawing lines, with automatic snapping; rooms are generated from the walls. A typical flat takes a few dozen clicks.

Are the floor areas valid for official filings?

Floor areas are calculated from the polygon of the room traced on the drawing, in the unit you choose. They are verifiable project data; compliance with the conventions required by each filing remains a check for the professional.

Can I get a photorealistic render?

Yes, on request: the Loto Studios team produces images and videos from the model, with materials and furniture chosen together and agreed timing. It is not an automatic function of the viewer.
